Pottstown Cluster Capital Campaign - $1,000,000.00
Wonderful things are happening with the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities. For over forty years, we have carried out our nurturing work in this community without having a place to call “home.” In the last fifteen years, the search for a permanent location intensified with more than 30 properties and locations receiving great scrutiny and interest. Ultimately, none of these fulfilled our dream of having a permanent residence.
This year we made major progress on our over 15-year vision to acquire our own property. In January 2010, PCRC purchased the George A. Amole American Legion Post #47. An agreement of sale was made between the American Legion and PCRC to purchase the building “as is,” noting that the Legion had not been using the building since August 2008, and many repairs and renovations were needed to have the building be brought up to useable condition. Because of this, we were able to make the purchase outright, assuming no mortgage, and can now concentrate on fixing up the building for our use.
Although we are very excited about our new home, considerable repairs are needed before we can move in. While sitting empty waiting for a new owner, the building suffered significant water damage and developed mold issues. Major renovations must be done in order to resolve the water damage and mold concerns, and bring the building up to a workable office and program space. Additionally, with new space comes new opportunities. The following renovations and updates are needed:
- Water damage and mold remediation clean up
- Installation of a new roof
- Construction of new office, program and conference space
- Procurement of computers for staff and client use
- Installation of new walk-in refrigeration and freezer
- Acquisition of forklift to assist with receiving and storing donations
- Purchase and installation of improved and energy efficient heating, cooling and electrical systems

Progress on the building will continue, with a plan to move the Cluster Outreach Center to 57 N. Franklin St. in mid 2011. Please keep this project in your prayers, and consider a gift to our Campaign. Visit our website often to see progress on the building and other opportunities for you to get involved. We need your help in Raising Hopes and Building Dreams.
