The Pottstown Cluster’s Community Engagement Committee is seeking volunteers to bring back sit-down meals at all PCRC sponsored Community Meals. Volunteers can serve on one of two teams to help reduce the amount of packaging and trash, well as promote a sense of community among guests.
The Resource Team will attend the Community Meals on a regular basis in order to develop conversation and connections with our guests and church partners. Through this process we will assist individuals with learning about and gaining access to community resources. A willingness and ability to communicate in social settings is required. Resource Team members should be able to conduct basic Google searches in order to obtain information and to answer questions about support services and community resources available in Pottstown and Montgomery County. A resource list and training on the availability of these resources will be provided by PCRC Staff. The goal of the Resource Team is to promote a welcoming environment in and around the PCRC sponsored Community Meals.
The Trash Team will be composed of Volunteers and Board Members who will attend the Community Meals on a regular basis in order to help monitor trash and maintenance issues both outside and inside the Community Meal locations. Trash Team members must be able to lift, bend and use basic hand tools while disposing of trash and litter. The Trash Team members will also be available to help with clean-up during and after the meal. Trash Team members must have the ability to communicate in social settings. Trash Team members will also be an outside presence in order to encourage and welcome guests to come inside and take part in the PCRC sponsored Community Meals. Members of the Trash Team will work in cooperation with other non-profit organizations who are dedicated to addressing trash and liter related issues in the Borough of Pottstown.
